Our story
Our hotel, a historic site
Standing against the old rampart of the Castrum and perched on the Châtel ascent, the former Montaulbain hotel, owned by Simon du Châtel, was purchased in 1388 by the City magistrates to be made into the Municipal House.
The town hall housed the municipal bell that was used for alarms; the city's cannons were melted down in the clock room. The town hall's cellars were used as the municipal prison. In 1680, Louis XIV installed the first «French» chief alderman in the town hall.
In 1738, the Municipality abandoned the Hôtel de Montaulbain to move into the Hôtel de Japin, the current town hall. Nowadays, the old gaols remain beneath the new hotel.
This house was converted into a hotel as we knew it in 1960.
Our story
1987 – Where it all begins
Two children meet at nursery in Lérouville. They don't know it yet, but their story has just begun.
2011 – The Wedding
After years of friendship and then love, they get married in their home village.
2016 – A new dream
The desire to work together is compelling: a new path is emerging.
2017 – The Capsule
They are opening their first business: a cosy crêperie that will soon find its loyal customer base.
2020 – An important meeting
They cross paths with Victor and Fabrice, owners of the Hôtel de Montaulbain, and a beautiful relationship blossoms.
2025 – A New Chapter
They are re-opening the Hôtel de Montaulbain and are today writing the next chapter of its history... and of their own.
